Dr. Jafri Kuthubutheen has been invited as a Faculty Member for the next ASEAN ORL Congress to be held in Singapore later this year. He will be speaking on two topics:
- “New Frontiers in Cochlear Implantation –Intracochlear and Cerebellopontine Angle Schwannoma Removal and Simultaneous Cochlear Implantation”
- “ Spontaneous Cerebrospinal Fluid Otorrhea – An Emerging Entity”
Dr. Kuthubutheen has also been invited to be a demonstrator at the Temporal Bone and Cochlear Implant Workshop. He will be sharing his skills and techniques in Ear Surgery and Cochlear Implantation with students and participants from around Asia.
In addition, his team of researchers and collaborators have submitted a number of scientific abstracts to this conference with the aim of sharing the research conducted in Western Australia with the rest of the ASEAN Community.
ASEAN stands for the Association of South East Asian Nations. It comprises of 10 member nations including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Phillipines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam as well as Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste. It is estimated to cover a population of 651 million people. This makes ASEAN larger in population than the European Union or North America. It is projected to the the fourth largest economy in the world by 2050. ASEAN has close ties with China, Japan, South Korea, as well as with Australia, New Zealand and India.
